No Bake Chocolate Peanut Butter Squares

When it is a gazillion degrees outside and a gazillion plus 20 degrees warmer inside the house, the last thing I want to do is turn on the oven and bake, and risk heating my house even more. Why would I do that? Because my sweet little 7-year-old who loves to bake cookies with his mom wants to, that's why. It's hard to say no to the kid who loves spending time together in the kitchen.
On the other hand, turning on the oven is not an option when it is over 90 degrees outside. Like many households in the Pacific Northwest we do not have air conditioning. That means I have to get creative with making treats with my kids. Fortunately for my son, Eli, I have the perfect solution. Since he's crazy about anything that involves chocolate and peanut butter, one of his favorite recipes does not involve the oven. This has made it a no-brainer for making summertime treats.
Today I have a wonderful no-bake chocolate peanut butter treat that will satisfy any sweet tooth. Not only is this recipe easy, wonderful, and delicious, it is one of those recipes kids will feel accomplished and proud of the end result because of the process. This comes together in layers, each fun to do, that build on each other. The final layer can look incredibly professional and beautiful by swirling contrasting colors of peanut butter and chocolate.
I hope you will enjoy these, and stay cool in the process.
