Fact or Fiction: Victoria had a deep childhood love of Scotland.
Fact: Yes, she did. She hadn’t been there, but she read all those novels of all the Scots. She was completely entranced by them and she told Lehzen that she wanted to be attacked by it, which was impossible because they were on the other side.
- 3.
Fact or Fiction: Albert really disliked the bagpipes.
Fiction: I don’t know about that. But we know Victoria liked them, because she had a piper outside her bedroom every morning. It used to wake her up.

Fact or Fiction: Victoria and Albert really got lost in the Scottish Highlands during their trip.
Fact: They did. I took that from another Scottish episode, where they did get lost, and they did stop at a crofter’s cottage. And they didn’t know who they were! They didn’t spend the night, but it is based on a real incident.
